What’s happening around Lethbridge this weekend, June 18, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Teach your kids a new skill, or take some excellent live music, there’s plenty of events happening around Lethbridge this weekend.

Bright and early on June 18 the Town of Taber, and a handful of other organizations are hosting Kids Can Catch. Starting at 10:00 a.m. this free four hour event will give kids an opportunity to learn how to cast a line in the hopes of catching some trout. There are free fishing rods for the first 100 kids, as well as instructors available to give advice. The event takes place at the Trout Pond located on Trout Pond Avenue just west of Taber. And don’t worry if you don’t catch anything as there will also be a hotdog lunch available at the event.

Also happening on Saturday is the Eco-Solar Home Tour. If you have ever been interested in learning about eco-friendly homes, this free event happening from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. allows those interested, to tour homes and see how home owners around the city are shining a light on a more environmentally sustainable future. Check out The Glorious Sons as they take to the stage at the Enmax Centre on Saturday night. The Glorious Sons are two time JUNO award winners, and have been on the road for their Unfinished Business Tour. The show starts at 7:50 p.m. and tickets are available on the Enmax Centre website.

Also on Saturday night is Get Juicy – A Pride Week Kickoff, Kicking off at 8:00 p.m. at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, this Pride kickoff event features six different drag performers, including Stephanie Prince from Canada’s Drag Race Season Two. Tickets for the event are available on Showpass.

Finally, on Sunday June 19, the Trans March returns to Galt Gardens. Starting at 12:00 p.m. attendee’s are asked to gather at the stage area in Galt Gardens before heading to City Hall. Organizers encourage anyone who wants to attend to wear their best pride gear, make signs, and bring flags in order to express yourself. The organizer says all are welcome to the event, however asks that individuals exercise responsible allyship.
