What’s happening around Lethbridge this week, June 19, 2022
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Staying active, buying local, and celebrating others in the community are the big themes for events happening in Lethbridge this week.
On Monday, June 20, the Pride flag will be raised at Lethbridge City Hall as part of the kickoff to Pride Week in Lethbridge. The raising of the Pride flag begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, but for those who can’t attend, the event will also be shared on Instagram and Facebook live. Lethbridge Pride Fest is hosting the event, and NDP MLA Janis Irwin from Edmonton will deliver a speech to those in attendance.
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day at Fort Whoop-up, on Tuesday, June 21. This free, all ages event starts a 1 p.m. and runs for three hours. There will be a variety of activities happening during the event, and starting at 2 p.m. a mini Powwow. Besides the activities being hosted at the event, those who attend can also sample traditional Blackfoot berry soup, and hot mint tea.
Downtown Lethbridge BRZ is inviting people downtown for Lighting up Festival Square. Kicking off on June 22, at 11 a.m. you can witness the official ribbon cutting before festivities begin on 6 Street and 3 Avenue South. Happening over three days, individuals can expect, live music, dancing, plays, and more as part of the event to show off the newly renovated space.
