Breakfast on the Dairy showcases life on the farm
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Families from all around Southern Alberta made their way to Crystal Springs Cheese over the weekend to get a glimpse of what life is like on a dairy farm.
The ‘Breakfast on the Dairy’ event started off with a free breakfast, and then people could partake in a guided farm tour, which included showing off cows and calves, animal housing, the milking parlour, and a cheese-making demonstration.
To keep the kids entertained, there was also a bouncy castle, face painting, hay rides, and of course, home-made ice cream.
Crystal Springs Cheese is an award-winning farm that was established in 1984 and produces a variety of cheeses, including gouda, cheddar, havarti, and most recently feta. Crystal Springs received national recognition for its feta cheese, when the farm won best goat milk feta at the 2014 Canadian Cheese Awards. Over the years, the farm has undergone expansions and renovations, and the production facility has doubled from 7,000 sq/ft to over 14,000 sq/ft today.
