Defenseman Kaden Phillips signed by Lethbridge Hurricanes

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Kaden Phillips has been signed to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement by the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The 2005-born defenseman was originally selected by the ‘Canes in the ninth-round (192nd overall) of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. From Olds, Alberta, Phillips totaled 10 assists along with 12 penalty minutes in 25 regular season games in 2021-2022 with the Okanagan HA Black U17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).

The rearguard added seven assists in four post-season matchups. Additionally, he skated in six games with the Okanagan HA U18 Prep team, earning one assist.

During his draft year, Phillips scored three goals and had 19 assists (22 points), along with 42 penalty minutes with the Olds Grizzly’s U15 AA team. He also played in one game in 2019-2020 with the Red Deer Rebels U15 AAA team, picking up one goal and one assist. During the shortened 2020-2021 campaign, Phillips played in three games, recording two assists and eight penalty minutes with the Red Deer Northstar Chief U16 AAA team.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will start the 2022 ENMAX Pre-Season on Friday, September 9. They will host the Medicine Hat Tigers at the ENMAX Centre. The regular season Dairy Queen Home Opener is set for Friday, September 30, 2022. The Hurricanes will host the Tigers in Lethbridge.
