LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two men have been charged by the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) with multiple offences related to an assault this week.

On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, officers responded to a report of a 19-year-old male being assaulted by two unknown individuals in the 2000 block of 2 Avenue North. The LPS explained that at around 4:15 p.m., the victim was approached by the suspects and asked for cigarettes. When the victim declined, police say the suspects assaulted him.

The suspects were located nearby and were taken into custody after a “brief struggle with police”, according to the LPS. The victim sustained non life-threatening injuries that did not require medical treatment.

The two Lethbridge men were both charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

36-year-old Kendall Sonny Thomas Holloway was released from custody with a scheduled court appearance of August 24, 2022.

35-year-old James Joseph Smith remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
