RAYMOND, AB – The first day of the Raymond Stampede was packed with a string of world-class rodeo events with little to no delay. The Stampede resumes at 2:00 p.m. today, July 2, 2022, and people can expect three hours of rodeo action.

Robert Heggie, Raymond Stampede President, said the two-day Stampede has “lots of action right from the start to the end. It’s going to be three hours of good action – good entertainment.”

Town of Raymond residents Brandon Wilde and Bonnie Wilde encourage people to come and watch. Bonnie said the Stampede is “super fun, nice culture, and people are nice.”

Brandon also explained that the events are well-paced, stating, “It’s well organized, and it just rolls from one event to the next and [it’s] very entertaining. It’s just full-on action.”

There are also additional events like the Kid’s Wild Pony Race and Steer Riding. The Wilde couple said their son joined the Kid’s Wild Pony Race.

“They’re in teams of three, and the kids have to hold on to the rope and then the third member of the team tries to get on to the horse,” said Brandon. “Whichever team can have somebody ride the pony for the longest wins.”
