LETHBRIDGE, AB – A little over two months remain until Lethbridge’s Western Hockey League (WHL) club hits the ice.

The WHL has announced the schedule for the 2022-2023 regular season.

A total of 748 games will be played between the league’s 22 teams. This year, the WHL says nearly 80% of regular-season games will be held on weekends and holidays.

“By focusing the schedule on weekends and holidays, WHL Clubs can further enhance the WHL player experience by allowing additional time for training and skill development, as well as academic enrichment,” the WHL says in a media release.

The regular season kicks off on Friday, September 23, 2022, with eight games on tap.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes begin their regular season the following day, traveling to Medicine Hat to face the Tigers.

The Canes will hold their home opener on Friday, September 30 with a rematch against Medicine Hat at the ENMAX Centre.

The WHL regular season comes to a close on March 26, 2023. This will be followed by the 2023 WHL Playoffs, commencing on Friday, March 31, 2023, and then the Memorial Cup runs from May 26 to June 5, 2023.
