LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge are asking citizens to celebrate the upcoming Street Machine Weekend safely and respectfully.

The 44th annual event is in Lethbridge beginning Thursday, July 7 and lasting through to Sunday, July 10, 2022. The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is reminding all participants and attendees that the normal rules of the road will apply over the course of the festivities.

The LPS said in a news release Wednesday, July 6 that it expects to see an increased number of participants and spectators this weekend. The Street Machine Weekend kicks off with a drive-in movie on Thursday and wraps up Sunday with a show and shine.

The LPS is set to have extra resources on hand this weekend to make sure the rules of the road are respected. Alberta Sheriffs will assist Lethbridge Police with the weekend enforcement.

The LPS stated that past year have seen hot spots for stunting and other illegal driving behaviours along Mayor Magrath Drive and 3 Avenue South. There will be a highly-visible police presence in those and other areas of the city this weekend.

In the news release, the LPS issued a congratulations to the Street Wheelers Car Club on 44 years of hosting the Street Machine Weekend. The LPS thanked the club for its ongoing efforts to work with law enforcement to ensure the event is safe for everyone attending.

More details on the weekend festivities are available at the Street Wheelers Car Club website.
