LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) must have had a hunch that there would be some illegal driving behaviours during the city’s annual classic car showcase.

During an enforcement blitz to coincide with Street Machine Weekend, which ran from July 8-10, 2022, a total of 115 violation tickets were issued.

“The majority of the tickets were issued for stunting and equipment violations,” reads a media release from LPS.

Officers also issued three Criminal Code charges, executed eight warrants, towed three vehicles, and issued one Immediate Roadside Sanction “caution” for impaired driving.

The police service says the “large majority” of those in attendance were respectful and responsible during the sanctioned Street Machine events.

LPS is thanking both the Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP for their assistance over the weekend.
