COVID numbers continue falling across the board in Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest weekly report on COVID-19. The numbers reported in this update reflect data from July 5-11, 2022.

During that time, 1,361 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 194.

7,525 tests were completed over the last week, meaning the positivity rate was approximately 18%.

In the South Zone, 79 people tested positive, or about 11 each day.

Provincially, 552 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID including 16 who have been admitted to intensive care. This marks decreases of 16 for hospitalizations and six for ICU compared to last week’s report.

Below is a breakdown of COVID-19 in each health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone
    • 239,467 cases
    • 223 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 1,311 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone
    • 189,284 cases
    • 173 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 1,771 deaths
  • North Zone
    • 63,637 cases
    • 54 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 546 deaths
  • Central Zone
    • 60,117 cases
    • 72 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 596 deaths
  • South Zone
    • 38,465 cases
    • 30 in hospital, zero in ICU
    • 408 deaths

Below is a breakdown of COVID-19 in the South Health Zone:

  • Lethbridge – 13,263 cases (25 new), 110 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 5,031 cases (12 new), 14 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 4,169 cases (eight new), 66 deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 4,074 cases (five new), 30 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 8,152 cases (19 new), 100 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 2,898 cases (four new), 25 deaths
  • Cardston County – 2,831 cases (six new), 49 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,770 cases (four new), 34 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,794 cases (three new), 21 deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 1,355 cases (three new), 15 deaths
  • Cypress County – 1,276 cases, seven deaths
  • County of Warner – 1,224 cases (two new), 12 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 893 cases (four new), nine deaths
  • County of Newell – 699 cases (one new), 10 deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 468 cases, five deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 433 cases (nine new), five deaths
  • Waterton – eight cases, zero deaths
