West side apartment fire results in $75,000 worth of damages
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to an apartment complex that caught on fire at the 300 block of Highlands Boulevard West at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022.
Crews from five stations responded to the four-story apartment complex. Thankfully, when they arrived on scene, the majority of the residents had already evacuated. Crews discovered smoke coming from the third floor on the northeast side of the building. When they reached the unit, they found the building’s sprinkler system had extinguished the fire, and after inspecting the other floors, first responders found there to be no risk to the rest of the building.
Residents from all but two units were able to return to their homes safely, as the fire suppression system was intact and the smoke alarm system was fully operational.
In a release from the City of Lethbridge, it stated that no injuries were reported. However, damage to the affected units is estimated at around $75,000.
