Vulcan RCMP investigating fatal two-vehicle collision
CHAMPION, AB – The Vulcan RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred over the weekend.
On Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 5:25 p.m., Mounties responded to a two-vehicle crash between a pickup truck and an SUV at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 529. Fire Services attended as well.
The RCMP says the pickup truck was traveling southbound on Highway 23 when it was hit on the driver side by the westbound SUV, which was traveling on Highway 529. The 55-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased on scene.
The 34-year-old male driver of the SUV, along with two young children who were in the back seat, were taken by ground ambulance to hospitals in Calgary. A 33-year-old female passenger in the SUV was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to hospital and her condition is not known as of this publication.
