Ceremonial opening held for new Waterton Lakes Visitor Centre
WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK, AB – The ceremonial opening of a new visitor centre took place at Waterton Lakes National Park on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
The new facility in Waterton was funded through the Federal Infrastructure Investment Program. Tuesday’s celebration was attended by Parks Canada President and CEO Ron Hallman, as well as Chief Roy Fox of the Kainai First Nation.
The visitor centre officially opened to the public in February 2022 and provides an interactive and welcoming space, where guests to the park are introduced to the nature and culture of Waterton Lakes. The facility is open year-round and includes modern interpretive exhibits, interpretive programming, and visitor information and services.
