Vancouver council committee meets to discuss report on 2030 Winter Olympic bid
VANCOUVER — A report raising questions about the tight timeline for a bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympic Games in British Columbia comes before a Vancouver council committee today.
The report, which was released by the city manager earlier this week, says the Canadian Olympic Committee’s proposed schedule is “not achievable.”
The bid group has outlined a plan to complete the agreement process within seven months, and the International Olympic Committee is expecting a bid from the B.C. group in February.
The report before a city standing committee says a decision to endorse the bid should only come after complete details about the financial, operating and governance models are provided.
