PINCHER CREEK, AB – The main healthcare facility in Pincher Creek has undergone a series of renovations and upgrades.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says more than $900,000 in funding from the provincial Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP) has been invested into the Pincher Creek Health Centre (PCHC).

Work on the chiller will help to extend the life of the system and ensure comfortable temperatures for patients and staff.

A series of security upgrades include improvements to access control, cameras, and duress systems.

Renovations were also completed on the PCHC’s irrigation system.

Health Minister Jason Copping says the provincial government is committed to ensuring access to high-quality healthcare across the province.

This, he adds, includes the proper maintenance of buildings.

“These upgrades to the Pincher Creek Health Centre creates a better environment for staff so they can focus on providing the best care possible and make a patient’s stay more comfortable.”

While all of the aforementioned projects have been completed, work at the PCHC is ongoing.

$3.1 million dollars is being spent on upgrades to the computerized tomography (CT) outpatient services including a new scanner.

AHS Interim President and CEO Mauro Chies explains that the CT scanner will provide predominantly elective scans for patients in Pincher Creek and the surrounding area. Work is expected to be completed in mid-2023.

“The Pincher Creek Health Centre plays an important role in the well-being of this community,” says Chies. “It is vital we keep our healthcare infrastructure current and up to date, and projects like this help maintain our facilities and ensure our patients receive quality care in the best environments.”

AHS says 540 maintenance projects at healthcare facilities are currently underway across the province.
