UPDATE: West Lethbridge residential fire causes more than $750,000 in damages

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE: The City of Lethbridge has issued an update on Tuesday’s residential fire in the Riverstone neighborhood.

Fire investigators have determined the cause of the blaze to be accidental. Additionally, the City of Lethbridge stated that in fact, one resident of the home suffered minor injuries and was assessed by an ambulance crew on scene.

Firefighters in Lethbridge responded to a residential blaze on the west side of the city Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:49 p.m. on July 26, 2022, crews responded to a structure fire at a home in the Riverstone neighborhood. Members from three fire stations arrived on scene to find the home with large flames visible from both the first and second floors, as well as the attic area.

Firefighters were able to put the flames out quickly and get the blaze under control. They remained on scene to extinguish spot fires.

No injuries were reported as the City of Lethbridge says occupants of the home were able to safely evacuate on their own. Firefighters rescued a cat after the fire was extinguished.

Damages are estimated at being in excess of $750,000.

The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation.
