What’s happening in Lethbridge this weekend: July 29, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The long weekend has plenty of events taking place. From airshows, to meeting some furry friends, there’s something for everyone.

If you’d like to get in some exercise and raise money for a good cause, Clever Scoops in Champion, Alberta, is having its Second Annual 5km Walk or Run on Saturday, July 30. Registration is $45.00, and it includes a t-shirt, $5.00 digital gift card, and a fun filled “swag-bag”. Part of the registration fee will go towards installing additional solar light posts along the walking path in Champion. Participants are encouraged to complete the run between 10:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. as there is no firm time scheduled for the run.

If you’re looking for a new furry friend in your life, check out the Windy City Canine Rescue Dog Meet and Greet. Happening between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 at Pet Valu in West Lethbridge, you can meet some of the dogs Windy City Canine Rescue have available for adoption to see if they would be a good fit to join you and your family.

Happening on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 is the Lethbridge International Airshow. Gates open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and the event features planes, jets, helicopters, and more. This family friendly event will also have a number of food trucks, a classic car show and shine, and even monster truck rides. Tickets can be purchased on the Lethbridge International Airshow website.

On Sunday, July 31, head on over to Theoretically Brewing Company for the Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival Long Weekend Patio Fundraiser (LEMF). Starting at 2:00 p.m. and running until 6:00 p.m. you’re invited to enjoy a beer on the patio and enjoy an afternoon or electronic music. There will be two DJs playing, Marty Funkhauser and DJ Carpel. The event is by donation, and 100% of all the proceeds will go to LEMF in order to help make the 10 anniversary extra special.

Lastly, on Monday, August 1, head over to the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association for Heritage Day 2022. This event is open to the whole family, and will feature a wide variety of ethnic foods, cultural performances, cultural activities, and even door prizes. Admission is $5.00 and children under 12 get in free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on Eventbrite.
