What’s happening around Lethbridge this week: August 2, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Find your zen, rock out, treat your taste buds, or celebrate frontline workers. There’s something happening for everyone in Lethbridge and the surrounding area this week.

Starting at 12:10 p.m. on the dot and running until 12:45 on Tuesday, August 2, get your stretch on for Free Lunch Hour Community Yoga. This is the second of four free yoga events taking place in Festival Square hosted by Pop Up Yoga Lethbridge. No previous experience and no fancy clothes are necessary to participate in this event. All you need is a mat, some water to keep you hydrated, and you.

Would you rather listen to some tunes with a view? Check out Wide Skies Music Festival Evening 2 presented by The Geomatic Attic, on Wednesday, August 3. The view is overlooking the coulees from the west parking lot of the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge on Scenic Drive. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and the music begins at 6:00. The evening is set to feature Kobo Town, Blue & Gold, Altameda, and a special guest. The Geomatic Attic hopes the event can have a small environmental footprint, so you’re are encouraged to carpool, bike, walk, or take transit if possible. Tickets to the concert are free; however, donations are encouraged and tickets must be ordered in advance on the Geomatic Attic website. If you’re considering attending, you’re encouraged to bring your own chair, blankets, and non-alcoholic beverages. There will be a beer garden and other food services available on site.

If you’re feeling hungry you might enjoy Lethbridge’s Farm-to-table Tour: A Southern Alberta Culinary Experience. Enjoy an evening of food and drink produced right here in Southern Alberta hosted by the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers. The events starts at 3:00 p.m. and runs until around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4. You’ll start at the Vucurevich farm located at the intersection of Range Rd 212 & Township Rd 92 north east of Lethbridge, where you can take a tour of a local sugar beet operation while enjoying feature drinks made by Rig Hand Distillery. Afterwards, you’ll head to Crystal Springs Cheese for another tour that will feature more locally produced products, and finally sit down and enjoy a specially-prepared meal from the Cattlemen’s Chophouse. Tickets can be purchased through the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers website, and although this is an organized group tour, attendees will need their own transportation to each venue.

Last but not least, the Town of Coaldale is hosting the first annual Coaldale Summer Fest. This multi-day, family-friendly, jam-packed event is taking place August 5 and 6 and is dedicated to Coaldale’s frontline workers. The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a screening of “The Bad Guys” in Millennium Park behind the Coaldale Sportsplex. There will be food trucks and live music to keep you entertained until the movie begins just after sundown. Saturday will begin with a pancake breakfast fundraiser hosted by the Knights of Columbus from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., followed by the Coaldale Candy Parade starting at 11:00 a.m. sharp. There will be more fun than you can shake a stick at during this event, and a full list of all the entertainment, vendors, and more can be found on the Town of Coaldale website.
