Aug 4, 2022 | 11:30 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge County has re-issued fire restrictions effective 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

In a news release, the County says the additional heat and dry, windy conditions that have been forecasted for the next few days have resulted in an elevated risk of fires spreading.

Under the restrictions, no fire permits or firework permits will be issued until further notice, and all active fire permits are cancelled. Fines will be issued to anyone caught burning during the fire restriction period.

Some recreational campfires are permitted, including campground and backyard fire pits, as well as acceptable incinerators that meet County specifications as per the Fire Bylaw #22-002. Fires that are contained in cooking or heating appliances, or fueled by fluids or gasses, such as barbeques, are also allowed.
