Lethbridge to host youth soccer provincials this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Soccer Association is hosting a big event this coming weekend.

The association will host the Tier 2 Alberta Youth Outdoor Soccer Provincials in six different categories from Friday, August 12 to Sunday, August 14, 2022. There will be champions in the Under-13 Girls, Under-13 Boys, Under-15 Girls, Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Girls, and Under-17 Boys divisions.

In total, 47 teams from across Alberta will be competing in the city, including five squads from Lethbridge. 91 games will be played at three different locations.

These playing locations include the Lethbridge Sports Park on the north side of the city, the U of L Community Sports Stadium in West Lethbridge, and the Servus Sports Centre outdoor field on the south side. Games will begin Friday, August 12 at 3:00 p.m. and the competition wraps up Sunday.

Frank Spadavecchia, Executive Director of Servus Sports Centre and Local Organizing Committee chair said, “We are excited to be hosting the largest provincials event yet.”

“Our committee has worked hard preparing over the past few months, and we welcome all the players, coaches, officials, and families to Lethbridge for this provincial championships.”
