Four impaired drivers caught by LPS during weekend enforcement campaign

Aug 15, 2022 | 10:51 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – 28 traffic violation tickets were issued by the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) this weekend. Public complaints about racing, stunting, speeding and loud vehicles have led to the LPS conducting added enforcement across random weekends in the city.

This past weekend, August 12 to 14, 2022, four impaired drivers were taken off the road after receiving Immediate Roadside Sanction (IRS) ‘Fails’. Additionally, the LPS Traffic Response Unit (TRU) issued three IRS zero tolerance with a Graduated Driver License, and one IRS Caution.

In total, TRU members put about 230 drivers through check stops, with 28 tickets issued.

The enforcement project will continue over the next few months and is aimed at providing safer roads for all users, allowing residents more peace and quiet and alleviating demands on Patrol members.
