Community Foundation grants now open for applications

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Applications are now open for two grant programs from the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.

The Community Priorities Fund is the foundation’s largest granting program. Through two annual calls for applications, the fund will distribute over $500,000 this year to charities and other qualified parties throughout the Southwestern Alberta region. Applications for the grant are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life supports initiatives and programs from community organizations committed to maintaining a high quality of life across rural Southwestern Alberta. It provides funding to rural projects that demonstrate or provide innovation, community collaboration, education, and training. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022.

The foundation’s Executive Director Charleen Davidson said, “It’s always a pleasure for us to launch our grant programs.”

“It’s exciting to see the various projects that are taking place throughout our community. These projects enhance everyone’s quality of life, and it’s fantastic for us to be a part of that by supporting these initiatives,” Davidson stated.

Gajdostik will host a free information session via Zoom at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022. To register for the session, interested participants are asked to email grants@cflsa.ca. The Zoom link will be shared upon registration confirmation.

Applicants have to be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency or apply in partnership with one, and all applications must be submitted online.
