Fort Macleod RCMP seek information in arson investigation

FORT MACLEOD, AB – Fort Macleod RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance after determining whether a recent structure fire was set deliberately.

On August 15, 2022, just before 10:00 p.m. Fort Macleod RCMP as well as Fire and Emergency Services were called to 149 22 Street after receiving reports a residence was on fire. After an investigation was conducted, it was quickly determined that the fire had been ignited on purpose.

According to a news release, RCMP says this is the second fire to occur at this residence in the past seven days, and due to the fire, a neighbouring business sustained an undetermined amount of damage.

At this time, there have been no injuries associated with the arsons and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the arson, including video doorbell cameras or surveillance footage, is asked to contact Fort Macleod RCMP at (403)-553-7720 or Crime Stoppers at 1-(800)-222-8477.
