Fort Macleod man charged following property crime investigation

FORT MACLEOD, AB – A Fort Macleod man faces charges related to a property crime investigation.

The RCMP detachment in Fort Macleod says it received a complaint of a “known male” driving around the town in a stolen GMC Sierra truck on August 17, 2022 at 4:05 p.m.

Officials say extensive patrols were made throughout Fort Macleod, at which time the suspect was found driving the vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop and the suspect was arrested without incident. Police say the suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The individual was also bound by a release order with several conditions, including not to be in Fort Macleod.

Additionally, police say the suspect was in possession of two stolen credit cards.

25-year-old Robert Harry Taggart has been charged with the following:

  • Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime
  • Two counts of failure to comply with a release order

The suspect was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to be in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on August 24, 2022.
