Calgary Police respond to three shootings in four days

CALGARY, AB – Police officers in Calgary have been dealing with multiple incidents of people being shot over the last week.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) was called to the 100 block of Everwoods Court S.W. on reports of two people being in medical distress.

Upon arrival, police found a man and a woman in a parked vehicle, both of whom suffered from gunshot wounds.

The woman was declared deceased on scene while the man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

CPS is searching for a suspect in the Everwoods shootings. A description and surveillance images are attached in the tweet below.

There were another two shootings in the city on Sunday, August 21, 2022.

One occurred at approximately 4:40 am at the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar, located at 3504 17 Avenue S.E.

A man suffered from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Despite attempts at live-saving measures by the attending officers, the man died on scene.

Witnesses told police that they heard gunshots and then saw a man fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as being approximately 30-years-old, 6’ 2” tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

The third shooting took place in the area of the 5500 block of Eighth Avenue S.E. at approximately 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 21.

Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles exchanging gunfire.

Officers located a man who appeared to have a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The second vehicle in the Eighth Ave shooting fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

The investigation is in the early stages and it is not yet known if this shooting was random or targeted.
