Southern Alberta athletes taking home medals at Canada Summer Games

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Team Alberta had a successful showing at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ontario.

The Games came to a close on Sunday, August 21, 2022, after just over two weeks of competition.

At the conclusion of this year’s event, athletes from Alberta won 111 medals including 35 gold, 33 silver, and 43 bronze. Alberta finished fourth in the medal count behind Ontario (198), Quebec (142), and B.C. (128).

Among the Albertans who are bringing home some hardware are several from the southern region.

Team Alberta was also awarded the Centennial Cup, given to the province or territory that is the most improved from one Games to the next. At the 2017 Canada Summer Games, Alberta won a total of 98 medals including 26 gold, 38 silver, and 34 bronze.
