TABER, AB – Organizers of this year’s Taber Cornfest are thrilled with how everything went at the 2022 festival.

Held from Thursday, August 25 to Saturday, August 27, 2022, Co-Chair Rick Popadynetz says people from across the province were excited to celebrate corn.

“I think we had a really successful Cornfest. It was one of the best attended I’ve ever seen,” says Popadynetz.

Although Whoop-Up Days was partially impacted by heavy rain this past week, Popadynetz says it was warm and sunny most of the time at Cornfest.

COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 forced the cancellation of Cornfest with only a car show and farmer’s market being held. Even though the 2021 festival was mostly back to normal, he says people seemed extra excited to enjoy all Cornfest had to offer this year.

Popadynetz believes that having more vehicles being part of the car show and there being a showcase for the Filipino community helped to bring more people out.

He was also a big fan of the entertainers that took to the stage.

“We got some really great talent in our local area for bands,” says Popadynetz. “It’s a really great way to showcase everybody that plays in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and Calgary, all these bands that came down. Wow, it was really great to see free music being played on our Cornfest stage.”

“Our rodeo was really good this year and, like I said, the weather held out for our parade. The Pure Power Wrestling, I think there was about 5,000 people at the wrestling event so it was pretty amazing to see,” adds Popadynetz.

Popadynetz says he and his team are already brainstorming ideas for next year’s Cornfest.
