LETHBRIDGE, AB – Paid parking comes into effect at the ENMAX Centre this week.

Guests parking at the Lethbridge facility will have to pay beginning Thursday, September 1, 2022.

The City of Lethbridge noted that Lethbridge College student/staff parking is in effect Monday through Friday from midnight to 4:00 p.m. “with affordable daily, weekly, monthly and semester rates available.”

Event parking at the ENMAX Centre will include activities like concerts, graduations, tradeshows, sporting, cultural and entertainment events with a flat parking rate of $5 per vehicle.

Signage has been installed in the lot to remind users of the change. Officials encourage people parking at the ENMAX Centre to pay for parking online using the Flowbird mobile app. There are four yellow parking kiosks that will also accept payment, with two located outside the north entrance of the venue and two inside, on either side of the main doors.

Methods of payment at the kiosks include coins, Mastercard, Visa, Interac Flash, Apple Pau, Android Pay and the City of Lethbridge prepaid parking cards.

The City of Lethbridge did note, however, that parking will be free for banquets and meetings at the Canadian Western Bank Lounge. Parking is also free for recreational patrons like rec hockey, birthday parties and small user groups.

LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES

In working with the Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club, it was decided that season ticket holders would be exempt from paying to park at the ENMAX Centre. The City of Lethbridge said the decision was made to help lessen the impact on the Hurricanes’ organization.

Additionally, the September 9, 2022 and September 16, 2022 Hurricanes exhibition games will be exempt from paid parking to allow time for season ticket holders to pick up their parking passes.

In a release from the City of Lethbridge, it was stated that, “Moving to a user pay system means funds will be collected by those using the parking lot – both local residents and out of town visitors.”

“This is a more equitable way to generate the revenue needed for operating the venue vs the current tax supported model,” reads the release.

SERVUS SPORTS CENTRE

Officials noted that parking at the Servus Sports Centre and Lethbridge Judo Club lots is also shifting to a paid model, with payment online via the Flowbird app only. Daytime rates are the same as at the ENMAX Centre. More information is available from the Servus Sports Centre.

Further details about the paid parking model that comes into effect September 1, 2022 is available at the ENMAX Centre website.
