Multiple collisions and tickets issued on Alberta highways over Labour Day weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Alberta RCMP says four people were killed on Alberta highways over the Labour Day long weekend, as officers responded to multiple collisions and issued thousands of traffic tickets during the last long weekend of summer.

Alberta RCMP released statistics related to its enforcement initiatives from September 2-5, 2022. During that time, officers issued a total of 2,302 traffic tickets across the province.

The statistics show that police issued 1,058 speeding tickets and 74 fines for distracted driving. Officers also removed 85 impaired drivers from Alberta roads.

Alberta RCMP plans to continue its traffic enforcement initiatives across the province in the coming months.
