Lethbridge Police recover over $30k in stolen property

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a 56-year-old man and recovered $37,000 worth of stolen property in connection to a break and enter on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

LPS responded on Wednesday evening after receiving a report of the break-in at a fenced business compound in the 600 block of 30 Street North. As officers searched the area, they found a hole had been cut in the fence and approximately $18,000 worth of tools had been stolen from various work trucks in the yard.

Police also investigated the theft of a truck from the 3600 block of 9 Avenue North, which was believed to be used during the break-in at the commercial compound. The truck was later recovered.

LPS also received reports of two vehicles that had been significantly damaged in the 2800 block of 5 Avenue North, and the 500 block of 30 Street North.

Police arrested a male subject without incident at a home in the 300 Block of 7A Avenue South, where the stolen property was recovered, as well as several catalytic converters, and two motorcycles that had been previously reported stolen from a dealership.

Tomas Adams of Lethbridge has been charged with 10 offences including theft, attempted theft, possession of stolen property, and mischief to a motor vehicle.

Adams remains in custody and has an initial court appearance scheduled for September 16, 2022.

Lethbridge Police say the investigation is ongoing.
