LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club has announced another roster adjustment ahead of the start of the regular season.

Forwards Nolan Viesner, Trae Wilke and goaltender Brady Smith have been re-assigned.

Brady Smith, 16, was originally drafted by Lethbridge in the sixth-round (123rd overall) in the 2020 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft. From Cloverdale, B.C., he appeared in two pre-season games with the ‘Canes, posting a 1-0-0-0 record with a 5.56 goals against average and a .824 save percentage. He will report to the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Trae Wilke was selected 29th overall in the second round of the 2021 WHL Draft by Lethbridge. He appeared in all four exhibition games for the ‘Canes this month, going pointless. The 15-year-old forward from Saskatoon scored his first WHL goal in his first WHL game last season as an affiliate. He will return to the Saskatoon Blazers Under-18 AAA team for the 2022-2023 season.

Nolan Viesner was undrafted in the WHL Draft and signed with Lethbridge in 2021. From Kamloops, B.C., he was unable to appear in a pre-season game with the ‘Canes as he recovers from an injury. He appeared in 13 games last season with the Yale Hockey Academy Under-18 team, where we finished with 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) and six penalty minutes. The Hurricanes said Viesner will return home to continue recovering from his injury.

Lethbridge now has 24 players on its roster, including 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders. The Hurricanes start the 2022-2023 regular season on the road against Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.
