LETHBRIDGE, AB – A planned power outage is scheduled to take place in Lethbridge today.

The City of Lethbridge says crews will be upgrading power lines, resulting in the planned outage on Thursday, September 22, 2022. The outage will be in effect from 8:30 in the morning until about 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Officials note it will affect about 50 residents along 16 and 17 Avenue South from Scenic Drive to 17 Street South.

In a news release, the City of Lethbridge stated, “Please pardon this power interruption as we upgrade the power lines. We are working hard on these upgrades to reduce the chance of unplanned outages in your area in the future.”

During an outage, garage doors will not work, so residents are advised to pull their vehicle out of their garage ahead of the planned outage.

Information on planned and unplanned power outages is available through the City of Lethbridge website. The interactive site displays a map of the outage area, the number of residents affected and the estimated restoration times for when power is knocked out.
