Lethbridge Hurricanes make trades with Manitoba clubs

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have acquired Tyson Zimmer from the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The 2004-born forward was brought onto the Canes’ roster in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2023, and a fifth-round draft pick in the 2024 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft.

Zimmer was originally drafted sixth overall in the first round by the Wheat Kings in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft.

So far in his career, Zimmer has skated in 82 regular season games, netting 12 goals and 13 assists, and 42 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes also traded Ty Nash to the Winnipeg Ice. Nash was a ninth-round draft pick back in 2018. Since then, he’s appeared in 144 regular season games, with 22 goals and 39 assists, and 82 penalty minutes.

Nash recently attended the Edmonton Oilers development camp.

The Hurricane’s will be taking on the Medicine Hat Tigers during the regular season home opener on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the ENMAX Centre.
