Claresholm RCMP investigating series of break-ins at churches

CLARESHOLM, AB – RCMP claims a suspect has been targeting places of worship in Claresholm.

Officers received several complaints about break and enters between August and September 2022, as well as mischief.

During this period, break-ins occurred at the Faith Community Baptist Church, United Church, Parallel Church, Anglican Church, Church of the Nazarene, and Mycitycare non-profit organization.

A suspect was arrested and charged on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Cody Gorrell, 31, of no fixed address, is charged with five counts of mischief under $5,000, four counts of break enter and theft, two counts of break and enter, and one count each of theft under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, possession of break and enter tools, and failure to comply with a release order.

Gorrell has been remanded into custody.
