Lethbridge Police advise residents to avoid the Lethbridge Courthouse
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is advising the public to expect traffic delays and potential difficulty finding parking downtown this morning, October 4, 2022.
Officers have closed 4 Street South between 4 Avenue and 5 Avenue South in front of the Lethbridge Courthouse, as there is a growing number of vehicles in the area with people coming to show support for three individuals expected in court this morning charged in connection to the Coutts protest earlier this year.
Alex Van Herk, Gerhard Janzen, and Fort Macleod town councillor Marco Van Huigenbos, are expected to appear in court today after they were charged with mischief over $5,000 in relation to the protest.
LPS is actively monitoring the situation and is working with the City of Lethbridge and Fire and Emergency Services in case any actions need to be taken to maintain public safety.
