Byelection set for November 8 in Brooks-Medicine Hat

BROOKS, AB – A date has been set for a significant byelection in the constituency of Brooks-Medicine Hat.

Elections Alberta has set the byelection for November 8, 2022. The riding is where new Alberta Premier Danielle Smith intends to seek a seat. Smith currently does not have a seat in the legislature.

Brooks-Medicine Hat became vacant when its current representative, Michaela Frey, resigned on Friday, October 7.

Last Thursday, October 6, Smith won the United Conservative Party leadership race. She was sworn-in as premier of the province on Tuesday, October 11, and replaces former UCP leader Jason Kenney.
