LETHBRIDGE, AB – A verdict of guilty has been declared after a 10-year-old was killed in a collision more than two years ago.

In Lethbridge Provincial Court on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, Judge Timothy Hironaka declared that Neil Martin Skjodt, 54, is guilty of one count of careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act.

On August 13, 2020, a collision occurred in which a vehicle travelling southbound on Aquitania Boulevard West made a right-hand turn into the westbound lanes of Whoop-Up Drive.

Two boys, who were crossing the street with their father, were struck by the vehicle.

A 10-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries that resulted in his death, while a nine-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.

Justice Hironaka found that Skjodt failed to use care when entering the intersection.

Skjodt received a $2,000 fine and a 90-day driving suspension
