Lethbridge man charged with robbery and weapons-related offences
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge have charged a 25-year-old man with nine robbery and weapons-related offences in connection with three separate incidents.
The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) said on September 6, 2022, a 41-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle along the 500 block of 8 Street South in Lethbridge. Police note he was approached by another man just before 11:00 p.m. According to the LPS, the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the driver roll down his window, but the 41-year-old man was able to drive away without further incident.
In a second event about 30 minutes later, police stated that a 33-year-old man was walking his dog along the 900 block of 4 Avenue South when another man with a bandana covering his face “aggressively approached him”. Like the previous incident, police said the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a handgun in one hand, but also had a baton in the other. He reportedly demanded the 33-year-old man’s cell phone, who refused to give it to the suspect and fled the scene.
On October 15, at around 2:30 a.m., a 22-year-old male employee was attempting to get a group of people gathered outside a gas station on the 500 block of 6 Avenue South to move away from the business. Police said a man hit the employee and stole his cell phone before leaving the area.
