In July, it was announced that Montem Resources and the Piikani Nation entered into an agreement to build the Tent Mountain Renewable Energy Complex (TM-REX). Montem is hoping to convert the Tent Mountain Coal Mine into one that generates various types of clean, renewable energy. Montem noted that the primary elements of the proposed TM-REX include a 320MW/2560MWh Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES), a scalable 100MW green hydrogen electrolyser and a 100MW off-site wind farm.
