Hurricanes fall 2-1 to visiting Wheat Kings Friday night

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Coming off a 3-2 loss against the Saskatoon Blades, the Lethbridge Hurricanes were looking to bounce back Friday night.

They were on home ice hosting the Brandon Wheat Kings, in front of 3,189 fans at the ENMAX Centre on October 21, 2022. Their quest for victory came up short, with the visiting team earning the 2-1 win.

FIRST PERIOD SCORING

The game’s opening frame is where all goals were recorded.

The rest of the Friday night tilt was filled with penalties. At the 5:02 mark, Calder Anderson scored his second goal of the season to put the Wheat Kings up 1-0 early on.

Lethbridge tied the game up at the 9:59, with Joe Arntsen scoring his second goal of the season. Jett Jones and Noah Chadwick earned the assists.

At the 13:19 mark, Nate Danielson scored his fourth goal of the year. The short-handed goal put Brandon up 2-1, which ended up being the final score of the contest.

THREE STARS

Wheat Kings goaltender Carson Bjarnason was named the first star of the game. Bjarnason had 32 saves on 33 shot attempts by the Hurricanes.

Brandon’s Nate Danielson was named the game’s second star, while Lethbridge’s goaltender Harrison Meneghin was named the third star of the game. Meneghin saved 19 shots on 21 attempts.

UP NEXT

The Hurricanes do not have a lot of time to rest. The team travels to Swift Current on Saturday, October 22, 2022 for a meeting with the Broncos.

Brandon, meanwhile, travel to Medicine Hat for a Saturday night match-up against the Tigers.

The Hurricanes now have a record of 4-7-0-0 on the season through 11 games, placing them in seventh in the Western Hockey League (WHL) Eastern Conference. Brandon sits in fifth with a record of 6-4-1-0.
