Hurricanes beat Broncos 3-2 Saturday night in Swift Current

SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Coming off a 2-1 Friday night loss against Brandon, the Lethbridge Hurricanes visited Swift Current for a tilt with the Broncos on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

The ‘Canes managed to snap their two-game losing streak with a 3-2 win, in front of the crowd of 1,734 hockey fans.

SCORING

Joe Arntsen scored his third goal of the season at the 3:44 mark, putting the Hurricanes up 1-0. At the 8:52 mark, Adam McNutt tied things up with his first goal of the year.

Before the end of the period, at 18:39, Cole Shepard scored short handed to put Lethbridge up 2-1 to end the opening frame.

In the second, Owen Pickering scored the period’s only goal, at the 5:12 mark, to tie the game at two.

It took about half the period for anyone to score in the third, but Hurricane Cole Shepard scored his second of the game at the 10:34 mark.

His fifth goal of the season ended up being the decider and Lethbridge earned the 3-2 victory.

THIRD PERIOD

11:18 – Tyson Laventure (Lethbridge), minor for cross checking

18:33 – Jett Jones (Lethbridge), minor for tripping

THREE STARS

Lethbridge’s Cole Shepard was named the first star of the game, scoring two goals.

Josh Davies, Swift Current, was the second star of the game and Lethbridge goaltender Jared Picklyk was the third star. Picklyk had 33 saves on 35 shots.

UP NEXT

The Hurricanes and Broncos will not have to wait too long to see each other again. A rematch is set between the two clubs in Swift Current on Wednesday, October 26.

Lethbridge’s regular season record now stands at 5-7-0-0, with the team sitting in seventh place in the Western Hockey League (WHL) Eastern Conference. Swift Current is in 11th place in the East, with a season record of 2-7-0-0.
