Officials investigating after body discovered near Coalhurst

COALHURST, AB – Law enforcement officials are investigating the discovery of a deceased person.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, Coaldale RCMP was dispatched to an area near Range Road 225 and Township Road 92, southwest of Coalhurst.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says its Criminal Investigation Section, acting on information obtained during an ongoing missing persons investigation, attended the scene as well.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary. The goal of the autopsy is to confirm the person’s identity and the cause of death.
