RCMP confirm identity of deceased person, charges laid

COALHURST, AB – Officials have provided an update on their investigation into the discovery of a deceased person.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, Coaldale RCMP was dispatched to an area near Range Road 225 and Township Road 92, southwest of Coalhurst. The body of a deceased person was discovered.

An autopsy was performed at the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The deceased has been identified as Tia Blood, 34, of Lethbridge.

Blood had been reported missing on October 19.

Coaldale RCMP says “The manner of death has been deemed inconclusive and remains under investigation.”

RCMP believe that Blood passed away on the night of October 19 or sometime on October 20.

In a statement from members of Blood’s family, they ask the public to be mindful of the fact that they are grieving and to not speculate or spread rumours as to the circumstances of her death.

Hunter Alexander Frank, 20, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of offering an indignity to human remains and two counts of theft under $5,000.

The investigation is ongoing.

Coaldale RCMP is asking anyone who might have seen a teal green tarp on the west side of Range Road 225 along the fence line to contact them.

The RCMP detachment also wants to hear from anyone who has any other information regarding this case.
