OTTAWA, ON – “Freedom Convoy” organizers are expected to testify at the public inquiry into the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act starting today (November 1, 2022).
The Public Order Emergency Commission is examining the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act to end the so-called Freedom Convoy protests in Coutts, Alberta, Ottawa, and Windsor, Ontario last winter.
The convoy witnesses are expected to shed light on the conception of the weeks-long demonstrations that gridlocked Ottawa streets last winter. Several of the protest organizers, including Tamara Lich, Chris Barber and Pat King, are facing criminal charges related to their involvement.
The Public Order Emergency Commission has also summoned Ontario Premier Doug Ford and former solicitor general Sylvia Jones to testify at the Emergencies Act inquiry.
