College and university sports preview: November 4, 2022

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks and University of Lethbridge (U of L) Pronghorns are in action this weekend.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

The Kodiaks men’s and women’s basketball teams are both on home court this weekend.

The women’s basketball team has started the regular season with a record of three wins and one loss. On Friday, November 4, 2022 at 6:00 p.m., they will host Northwestern Polytechnic. That match-up is followed by a game against NAIT in Lethbridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5.

The men’s basketball team faces Northwestern Polytechnic at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4 before a meeting against NAIT at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5. The Kodiaks have started their regular season with four wins and no losses.

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has two wins and one loss through three games so far this season. They visit Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie, Alberta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4. On Saturday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m., the team visits NAIT.

The men’s volleyball team is undefeated with three wins and no losses. They are also on the road against Northwestern Polytechnic, with their match-up set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4. On Saturday, November 5, the Kodiaks have an 8:00 p.m. game against NAIT.

In other Kodiaks news, the Athlete of the Week honours went to not just two players, but two entire teams. The women’s soccer team received one of the honours. The team claimed a bronze medal at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championships on Sunday, October 30.

On the men’s side of the Athlete of the Week award, the men’s cross country team has been recognized for their efforts at the ACAC Championships in Edmonton on Saturday, October 29. The team came home with a bronze medal.

UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE PRONGHORNS

The Pronghorn Athletics men’s and women’s basketball teams begin their Canada West regular seasons this weekend.

The women’s basketball team will host the University of Victoria back-to-back. Their first game is in Lethbridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4. Their second meeting is at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5.

The men’s basketball team will also host the University of Victoria, with their first game at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4. The team wraps up their weekend with a 7:00 p.m. rematch on Saturday, November 5.

The U of L swim team travels to Vancouver, British Columbia for the Colleges Cup – Pacific.

The event takes place Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6 and is hosted by the University of British Columbia.
