$140K worth of drugs confiscated from Lethbridge home

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has arrested two people in connection to drug trafficking activities.

In September 2022, the Crime Suppression team began an investigation that lead to the search of a home in west Lethbridge on Wednesday November 23, 2022.

A man was arrested without incident at the home while a woman was apprehended following a targeted traffic stop.

LPS says it confiscated fentanyl, MDMA, cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycontin, and an assortment of narcotic pills.

The combined street value of the drugs is estimated at approximately $140,000.

Police also seized a loaded rifle, a sawed-off rifle, three homemade guns, two tasers, a butterfly knife, mace, brass knuckles, a sword, ammunition, a variety of stolen items, and nearly $13,000 in cash.

LPS says a young child was living in the home. Child and Family Services has been contacted.

A 51-year-old Lethbridge man, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the child, is charged with:

  • Five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Four counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Four counts of possession of stolen property
  • Three counts of knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm
  • Three counts of possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Manufacturing a firearm
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number
  • Causing a child to be drug endangered

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 1, 2022.

A 47-year-old woman, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the child, is charged with one count of causing a child to be drug endangered.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2023.
