Nov 27, 2022 | 2:50 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for areas surrounding Lethbridge.

A snow squall watch is put in place when conditions are favourable for brief but intense bursts of heavy snow, producing near-zero visibility.

This special weather statement affects the following areas:

  • City of Lethbridge
  • County of Forty Mile near Skiff
  • County of Lethbridge near Coaldale, Coalhurst, Nobleford, Barons, Picture Butte and Turin
  • County of Warner near Milk River, Coutts, Raymond, Stirling, New Dayton, Warner, Wrentham and Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park
  • Municipal District of Taber near Barnwell, Taber, Grassy Lake, Vauxhall, Hays, and Highways 877 and 513

Environment Canada indicates that an intense cold front is bringing a band of heavy snow and strong winds, which could result in visibility significantly and suddenly reducing to near zero.

Snow squalls can cause weather conditions to vary considerably within a short distance. Changes from clear skies to heavy snow are common.

Alerts and forecasts will be updated by Environment Canada.
