Canola contest aimed at Western Canadian producers

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new contest has been announced for canola growers in Western Canada.

SeedMaster has announced the ‘160 Acres of Gold Giveaway’ which will see one grower win essentially everything they need to grow a quarter section of canola.

This includes InVigor® hybrid canola seed from BASF, ESN Environmentally Smart Nitrogen fertilizer from Nutrien, and crop protection products with custom application. The winner will also have the ability to use a crop intelligence weather station and SeedMaster’s Ultra SR drill for the 2023 crop year.

The company created the contest as a way to recognize the significance of canola, while also highlighting the tools farmers can use to help meet the demand.

“With the ongoing investment in domestic processing and strong export demand, the pressure on Western Canadian growers to produce nearly 30 per cent more canola in the coming five years means they will need every productivity-enhancing tool they can get their hands on,” said Tim Criddle, SeedMaster’s global sales director. “Unique seeding solutions and technology will help canola growers rise to this enormous challenge and the 160 Acres of Gold Giveaway contest will offer a glimpse into what is possible.”

The contest runs until January 2023 and canola producers can apply on SeedMaster’s website.
