CP Holiday Train rolls through Alberta starting this week

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train makes its return to Southern Alberta this week with bright lights, live music, and a fundraiser.

The festively-decorated train began its cross-country tour on November 23, 2022, and it will be making several stops in the province starting on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

The Holiday Train will not come to Lethbridge this year, but it will make stops in 21 Alberta communities at the following times and locations:

• Medicine Hat: Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Queen Street and North Railway Street, east of the CP station
• Tilley: Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 5:15 p.m.
  • Southeast side of the railway crossing at highway 876
• Brooks: Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:35 p.m.
  • 1 Avenue on the rear side of the Civic building
• Gleichen: Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 8:35 p.m.
  • CP tracks at 3 Avenue and Crowfoot Street
• Blackfalds: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 12:45 p.m.
  • CP tracks at Greg Street between Broadway Avenue and East Avenue
• Lacombe: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Len Thompson Fish Pond
• Ponoka: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 3:45 p.m.
  • 50 Street and 47 Avenue
• Wetaskwin: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m.
  • CP ES Building at 4009 50 Street
• Millet: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6:50 p.m.
  • Pedestrian crossing at 50 Street and 48 Avenue
• Leduc: Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8:15 p.m.
  • CP tracks at 50 Avenue and 47 Street
• Josephburg: Friday, Dec. 9 at 5:00 p.m.

• Edmonton: Friday, Dec. 9 at 8:00 p.m.
  • South of the old Edmonton CP station at 7935 Gateway Boulevard
• Innisfail: Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1:15 p.m.

• Cochrane: Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 2:45 p.m.
  • Behind the Provincial Building between River Street and 4 Street
• Stoney Nakoda: Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 4:15 p.m.
  • CP tracks adjacent to the Morley Gas Station
• Canmore: Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 5:45 p.m.
  • Railway pedestrian crossing behind Save-On Foods
• Banff: Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Banff train station at 327 Railway Avenue

All of the stops from Medicine Hat to Calgary will include musical performances from Tenille Townes and Aysanabee, while those in the Cochrane to Banff stretch will see MacKenzie Porter and Virginia to Vegas performing.

Musical performances will begin 10-15 minutes after arrival and will last for 30 minutes:

At each stop, CP Rail will be collecting food and monetary donations for food banks in those communities.

Calgary Food Bank President and CEO James McAra says he appreciates the support from CP Rail.

“Food banks and communities across Canada are so excited to see the CP Holiday Train return, as it brings together the City of Calgary to kick off the holidays and give back at the same time,” says McAra. “The Calgary Food Bank is so grateful for CP’s continued support to help us build a Canada where no one goes hungry.”

This will be the CP Holiday Train’s first live tour since 2019 after two years of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions forced the events to be held virtually.
