MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Southern Alberta man is facing numerous charges after police discovered several stolen vehicles estimated at $58,000.

In early December 2022, ALERT Medicine Hat’s regional property crime unit started an investigation into a rash of regional car thefts.

A few days later, on December 7, 2022, police say they identified a man leaving a 2002 Ford pickup truck that had been reported stolen from Redcliff earlier that day.

Following further investigation, officers were able to recover a stolen Suzuki dirt bike, a stolen ATV, and a stolen enclosed trailer.

Staff Sergeant Ryan Thorburn, ALERT Medicine Hat, said in a release, “Our regional property crime unit works hard to arrest and charge prolific property offenders. With this latest seizure, we are now working to ensure everything is returned to its rightful owners.”

Jeffrey Lawless, 37, of Medicine Hat, faces charges relating to stolen property and a breach of probation.

Lawless has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2023.

ALERT worked alongside the Medicine Hat Police Service and Redcliff RCMP during the span of the investigation.
